What makes Château de Beaulon so special? A distinctive terroir of rolling, chalky hillsides. Microclimate. 94ha of vineyards unique in the Charentes region offering a judicious choice of 9 grape varieties selected for their wealth of aromas. A winning combination of ancestral know-how and latest technology enable production methods which comply with sustainable development principles and respect for the environment.
Steeped in history, it was His Grace de Nesmond (heir to Beaulon) in the XVIIth Century who having himself been called to King Louis XIVth’s court as advisor placed the Estate under the management of the Bishops of Bordeaux. Fortuitously they enlarged the vineyards to incoporate Sauternes (80% Semillon - 20% Sauvignon) and Medoc (85% Cabernets Franc and Sauvignon - 15% Merlot) type grapes.
Once again a family estate in 1712 Château de Beaulon has flourished for the past 50 years under the strict, passionate guidance of Christian Thomas who has reinforced the Estate’s reputation for «Exceptional Quality» not only in France but also abroad. More than just an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, the Château’s Cognac and Pineau represent a way of life, the art of refinement and good taste.
